County Community Services Pairs with Flagstaff Subaru for ‘Share the Love’ Campaign

Dec. 23, 2014 - FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- On Wednesday, Dec. 17, Flagstaff Subaru employees helped to deliver meals to raise community awareness and participation to support local seniors in need. This local effort is part of Subaru of America, Inc.’s national year-end “Share the Love” event in partnership with the Meals On Wheels Association of America, as a way for Subaru retailers to give back to their local communities.

“We greatly appreciate Subaru’s partnership in raising awareness and funding for the nutrition needs of isolated local seniors,” said Janet Regner, County Community Services Department director.

As a proud Subaru “Share the Love” event charitable partner, local Meals On Wheels Member programs that partner with Subaru retailers are eligible to earn grants of up to $35,000. This can provide an extra layer of support to help deliver nutritious meals and other important services to seniors in the greater-Flagstaff/
Williams area.

“Subaru retailers and Meals On Wheels have worked together since 2008, helping deliver one million meals to seniors every day,” said Ellie Hollander, president and CEO, Meals On Wheels Association of America. “We are truly honored to be one of Subaru’s national charities for the seventh consecutive year. Their vital support enables us to power local communities in their fight against senior hunger and isolation all year long.”

For every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from Nov. 20 through Jan. 2, Subaru will donate $250 to the purchaser’s choice of participating.

By the end of this, the seventh “Share the Love” event, Subaru will have donated $50 million to charity over the past six years – including the delivery of 1 million meals to seniors in need.
